Here's how easily you can be a victim of Phishing Scams.

You probably won't know you are a victim of a phishing scam till you are hit. The only time you realize your info has been stolen for fraudulent uses is probably already too late. Your personally is continually being mined and compromised whether you like it or not.

Here's an example that I recently encountered. Just sharing with the average you and the still ignorant readers who think that you are better than those scammers and will never be scammed.

I saw this ad in my android phone news feed

Looks innocent enough ya?

It even looks authentic with the Genki Sushi logo and name at the bottom.

When you click in, the app takes you into this page within the Google search app,

The link is so small that you probably wouldn't even realized its there. You would probably be more concerned with looking out for the prices and the offer within the page.

Everything in the page is there to make this feels like an awesome deal to push you purchase and revealing your final card details.

So dear friends, do beware. Be extremely careful when things get too good to be true.

Here are some easy ways to always safeguard yourself from Phishing scams:

  • 1) If an offer is too good to be true, do be aware.
  • 2) Watch out for links on all offer redirects. No matter how small they are.
  • 3) Never reveal your private data on any sites. You should always use third party payment apps to make your payments. eg: Paypal, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Any payment sites that doesn't have such payment modes you need to beware. Unless its a site you are familiar with.

Why are phishing scams so successful?

Phishing scams are successful because they prey on humans most innate desires and weakness. Can you resist a sweet bargain? can you resist a temptation from a sweet looking girl contacting you? The answer is NO. This is why, you WILL and will always be a subject of scams. The only thing scammers have to try is the right intensity of the offer to get you hooked and onboard. That's when they can easily exploit your weakness.
